| Yea I think either evo-mods.com or evo-nation.com should be the place, not to put anyone off but we need one core site for mods... everyone time someone wants to subdivide it = most likely a dead site.. maybe we should have technocrats/tulisans input, he knows whats best... or better yet post a topic on nuke-evolution.com to see everyones opinions |

That's what I always wanted. Get those mods from one site, one team. Hopefully we can do that one day. But with evo-mods now connected to Reo, I guess it gets a little bit better. Maybe you could consider to make an affiliation with them and share the mods or something.
Also it's ugly for users to visit multiple sites to find one mod they might like and maybe they end up not finding it anyway. So, where to ask? Yeah, they probably ask everywhere. Gives a lot more overhead for everyone. |

The only problem with evo-mods as i see it now if that it doesnt seem like Reo will be porting any mods until 2.1.0 is out. What i think there should be is one site for porting and updating of existing mods and another for creating/adding functionalities to mods. But both site will have the same mods to download. But requests will be made at their respective site.
Cheers

My post was not intended to show anyone off...
It was intended to make two points...some of the old ports still work for 2.05, as well as I am still actively involved in porting new mods.
Yet I am a also a firm believeer in maintaining communication with other porters so that we are not doing the same things...no need to have the same release from two different sources. We all come together to support one CMS, so we need to come together in the sense of helping and porting together.
You you feel as if my post was purposely attempting to belittle your nice efforts and contributions here, by all means, delete my post. I was only attempting to inform you and others that I am still on the 'playing field' and intend to release alot of mods to hopefully re-encourage the growth of ports, requests, and of course Nuke-Evolution. We need another ported-mods.com.

Hey Ghost I am sorry if you took my response as attacking your post. That was not my intention and I was just basically trying to explain what is going on here at the moment. So please do not take it as anything negative as it was not intended that way. |

No hard feelings, just making sure that we have an understanding.
I seriously like the way that phpbb.com operates being more of the one-stop shop for everything. Of course you can still get the mods elsewhere or even support at the authors main site. But what helps makes phpbb.com more successful is that by the way they maintain all the mods, they also ensure an "Approval and Validation System". That is exactly what we need. I know that Technocrat agree's as well, however he does not want to do this...and although he never explained why, I assume because he worries that he will have to provide support for these as well or even full-fill requests. With the right team we can still get this working properly. As far as Reo...yea he has no intentions of porting until 2.1.0 is released, but it still boggels me that he purchased evo-mods.com to just have it redirect to his main site. Sounds to me that their are more intentions behind the purchase than just porting mods. He is not getting anything else other than the files within the database.

I agree with you that the phpbb setup would work the best, its the same with other distro's aswell. I believe mambo and joomla use one site for addons but then there are other devs who prefer to use the personal sites.
On the other hand I cannot understand why you are doubting Reo. His intentions are clearly stated. He will offer mods in both german and english once 2.1.0 is out. |

Ghost, give them time. I'm sure Evo-Mods will be nice in the end and he says it will be multilingual. Also, they got it's own modded Evo for the German community so I'm sure he is busy enough at the moment. I understand his decision to wait for Evo 2.1.0. When it's pretty close to release, it would be a waste of time on certain mods to do it now. Mods I've ported with premodded files, I can just do them again afterwards. Every mod will take me at least 15 up to 30 minutes to go over them. Some will take quite a lot more.
I'll update the mods I've ported and I already got some as you can see in my initial post. More to come. |

I dont know alot about porting, but i dont think the code of evo will change that big, so most mods need if im right minor changes
If im wrong, i didn't said a thing |

Ya I see your point Ghost. I was actually preparing to put in a large bid for evo-mods.com and my whole intentions were to take that domain and open to all the porters so we could all come together in one spot, and what better than the domain evo-mods.com.
Unfortunatly, I did not get it in on time and now the domain is being redirected. I thinhk Reo should have left the site up until they setup their .de site for multiple languages.
I would still be more than willing to open this site up to all the developers/ports if thats what we need and together build a system from this. Now I know this domain is not the greatest and if another domain would be better I would also be more than happy to purchase a domain better fitting and move on from there. I could shift everything from here to there and make the site what it needs to be.
Just some ideas here. Any feedback? |
